My Role
My responsibilities for Strong Towns GR is primarily to run their social media alongside the organizations co-founder. I utilize Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud products for almost all graphic content, ensuring adherence to a defined brand standard established by Strong Towns national.
Beyond branding, I actively engage with the community by managing content, responding to inquiries, and facilitating discussions that encourage civic participation. Our approach is centered on education, awareness, and action, ensuring that residents are equipped with the knowledge and resources they need to advocate for a more resilient and financially sustainable city.
Posting on Projects
My background in graphic design, digital storytelling, and content creation plays a crucial role in how we communicate our mission. Strong Towns GR is an enormous passion, and I strive to present it as a well-established, professional organization that is committed to making a tangible impact.
We actively share updates with our growing base of over 1000 followers, keeping them informed about upcoming meetings, key projects, and actionable steps they can take to support positive change in Grand Rapids. Each post is crafted to educate, inspire, and engage community members, ensuring that our message reaches both residents and local decision-makers.
In addition to social media, we create long-form content, visual storytelling pieces, and event promotions to further spread awareness and drive engagement. By fostering discussions on urban design, transportation, housing policies, and economic development, we aim to shift perspectives and encourage policies that prioritize long-term financial health over short-term gains.
Impact and Future Goals
Through consistent branding, thoughtful content, and meaningful engagement, Strong Towns GR has grown into an influential local voice advocating for smarter city development. Our work has contributed to stronger community involvement, increased awareness of sustainable urban planning, and deeper conversations between residents and policymakers.
Moving forward, we plan to expand our reach and increase donations to help our cause. This is being done with original t-shirt designs, collaborations with local organizations, and continue advocating for a financially strong Grand Rapids. By leveraging design, storytelling, and community-driven advocacy, we are building momentum for a city that prioritizes financial sustainability, strong neighborhoods, and resilient infrastructure.
