From pre-production to a final product, my process has been refined throughout my career, making each one more efficient than the last. This has allowed me to set the bar for expectations at a realistic level so we're all on the same page.
Production setup
After my script is approved by leadership, I choose a location in the building to film in. This has historically been in an unused office on the second floor. I work alone to set up the set with lighting, camera angles, and a teleprompter using my iPad. All of which help make the filming go smooth for anyone involved.
The image I've selected to showcase this is from my own guidebook, where I can properly recreate the lighting, angles, and scenery in every video recorded in this space.
Other locations have been empty rooms, a lounge in the building, and the warehouse to present the workers who do a lot behind the scenes, and can make all the difference.
Post Production
Part of my editing process is creating unique motion graphic elements alongside stock footage and animations. One example of a custom, unique graphic element I've created is a transition that follows the transition of the RecogNation logo. Videos that are made to educate and sell features of the platform usually went through 3-4 edits after an initial draft, going through approval of managers and upper leadership before being client-ready.
My post production process also includes color grading, audio mixing, and creating a mock version of the RecogNation platform that can be animated around.
All post production work uses a combination of Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro, and on occasion uses AI software to enhance scenes and audio when deemed fit.
Extra Credit
Finally, an extra bit of my production process is coming up with a storyboard if my project requires going in a more creative route. This storyboard was illustrated after recording the Grouping video. I knew for such an easy to explain feature of the platform, I wanted something that was more visually interesting than some screenshots or a quick, basic demonstration.
Creating a list of each department, showing the users within a group, and letting people see the "amplify" feature inside grouping was a fun brainstorming session I did, and I am very proud with how this video turned out.
Other examples of my custom animations I did for RecogNation projects, including transitions, logo reveals, and program features can be seen below.
